We won't forsake him!

"...for we keep the charge of the Lord our God; but ye have forsaken him."

2 Chronicles 13:11 KJV

God is intrinsically love, holiness and goodness. He can not help but be kind and loving to us -even his punishment is to help pull us back on the right track when we have stepped out onto hell’s highway. God grants his goodness to even the most hard-hearted person who refuses God and is hostile towards him, because as long as that person is alive, they are breathing the air that God provided and benefiting from the provision of the earth that good put in place to sustain mankind before we arrived here. Despite God’s goodness being evident when we look for it, many will not return his love. Like the children of Israel being rebuked by king Abijah (2 Chronicles13), they had set up counterfeit gods that provided a religion of convenience for them. This is what many do today, the heart of mankind does not change. While people are running far from God, we should be aiming to come as close to him as possible. However, it is easy for us as believers to look at those who reject the Gospel and feel good that we are ones who accepted it. Nevertheless, we can fall into the misstep of not appreciating God in many small ways. We do it every time we ignore a nudge to pray or read scripture. We do it every time we entertain ungrateful thoughts, every time we allow our feelings to compete against his voice and every time we become too ‘busy’ to engage with him. Pray to be someone who keeps God’s words and keeps him as the apple of your eye.
